About Dariusz Labuzek
About Dariusz Labuzek
Dariusz was born in Poland and studied architecture at the Institute of Technology in Cracow. He immigrated to the United States in 1990 and attended a film and theater program at Humboldt State University in California. In 1992 he moved to Chicago.
In 2015, he was honored to be featured by Saatchi Art in their "Invest in Art" series, which introduces the public to exceptional emerging artists from around the world. In 2016 Dariusz Labuzek relocated to San Francisco Bay Area, where he currently lives and orks.
The style of Dariusz Labuzek has an illustrative quality that is founded on an abstract painterly aesthetics. This juxtaposition of abstraction and design is what makes his pictures so compelling, his figures created as vessels to be filled by textures
, colors, and ideas. These qualities, along with the creative contrast of muted and vibrant colors, make his work resonate emotionally. Its stimulating expression of the environment brings each viewer in to effervescent, playful, and exciting world full of organic forms and shapes. Each piece might be a peculiar exploration of botanical, animal and human shapes.
Working primarily with acrylic, the artist emphasize es imaginative organic shapes composed with unique dexterity. He repeats the same motifs in his paintings, yet each picture is utterly different.
Its starting point is the relationship between painterly concepts such as texture, color, line and form. Some of his figures look like copper or collage-like cutouts, the rest more illustrative in nature. The abstract world of strange humanoid figures can lead us into a world that lightens up our imaginations.
Dariusz is an artist who cares and gives back to the community. His work has been featured in Chicago’s Polish Museum of America’s Art For Heart Fundraising Exhibit three times. In addition to supporting the Museum, supporting the Gift From the
Heart Foundation, a non-profit that helps seriously ill children.
You can currently view his artwork at his studio in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA, and at Artspace 8 Gallery on Chicago's Magnificent Mile and recently in the Redefo showroom in Cracow.
If you appreciate vibrant, expressive figurative art and organic forms and shapes, you’ll really enjoy Dariusz’s art.
